Beauty is big business, everybody knows that. In recent years, more and more beauty salons offering services ranging from hairdressing to makeovers, or even manicure and pedicure services.
In the past, a manicure would be limited to priming your nails before giving it a luscious coat of nail polish. But these days, nail art is becoming the next big thing for ladies who prefer something more dramatic.
For those who do not know, nail art is the latest fashion in nails this year, popularized by the rising trend in USA and Japan. Depending on the services available, your manicurist will either draw patterns on your nails, stick some water-based decals or even gems. A more sophisticated nail job would involve airbrushing designs onto the nails for a more beautiful finish.
In Japan today, there are an estimated 2,000 nail salons scattered around the country, not to mention the numerous nail specialist schools that churn out professional manicurists year after year. "Nail art (neiru ahto) started getting popular here (Japan) about five or six years ago" reckons Misuzu Taga, manicurist at Moga Brook salon.
Nail art is such a huge thing in Japan that there are even contests where top nail artists pit their skills against the best in the country. The result of their creation would be something beyond your wildest imagination. Ishi Nail has also organized an online nail art design contest to help promoting nail art design for it's members.
